Little Cutie Baby Hats

Did I mention that I have three granddaughters? In my grandmotherly, unbiased opinion, they are the cutest kids ever! They were the main reason I stepped up my crochet game and I haven’t looked back. The grandgirls have now outgrown all the little baby hats; however, I still enjoy making them.

There are lots of places in need of donated baby hats, but many of mine go to a local hospital, specifically the hospital where my daughter was born. She was a tiny, 2-1/2 pound preemie and was in the hospital for two months before coming home. I’m happy to say she is now a grown wife and mother. During my daughter’s time in the hospital, a volunteer made her a tiny hat and tiny booties. This act of kindness touched me and greatly influenced my desire to pay it forward.

The hat style I’m posting today uses the griddle stitch. The griddle stitch is also known as the seed stitch as it is an alternation between single crochet and double crochet in the first row. In the second row, it is an alternation between double crochet and single crochet. I will be posting the pattern I use in the near future, so be on the lookout for that.

Happy crocheting!
